The legalisation of cannabis is a hot topic at the moment as the economic downturn has led many people to consider the potential profits from legalising and then taxing cannabis to be a very attractive financial opportunity. One of the main groups which benefit from the current legal position on cannabis around the world is drug dealers. Some Doctors
Doctors in general seem to be split in their opinions as to whether the legalisation of cannabis would be a good thing or not. Some say that cannabis is a valid medicinal remedy for a range of conditions. It has been proven to help pain sufferers and people with diminished appetites to live a better life. And it is indeed legal to be sold and grown for medicinal use in many countries worldwide. However, the other half of the medical community sees cannabis as a source of addiction. They believe that legalising cannabis will result in an increase in people trying other more addictive and dangerous substances, as well as increasing the amount of tobacco smokers.
Activists
Anti-Cannabis activists have similar arguments to half of the doctors. As well as the physical health affects cannabis can bring, they also point out the mental health implications associated with smoking a lot of cannabis.
